The Lexington Minuteman Newspaper has published a new article entitled Lexington resident brings dolls, smiles to orphans in Africa.
Through a generous arrangement with Bata Children’s Program, Communities Without Borders is pleased to announce that we will be able to purchase children shoes at a price considerably below market rates. In announcing the agreement, CWB President Richard M. Bail stated that “… this will have a huge impact on our ability to channel more of our limited resources towards the specific educational needs of orphan and vulnerable children in Zambia.” The cost of shoes today which are required for attending government schools is approximately 15-20% of our overall budget.
Located in Lausanne, Switzerland, Bata Children’s Foundation is an affiliate of Bata Shoe Organization, a global manufacturer. In announcing the partnership, Nicole Voillat, Director of Bata Children's Program, commented that “…social responsibility has been a part of the DNA of Bata Shoes since its founding in 1894. Currently the Bata Children’s Program has 50 initiatives in 21 countries, more than 500 Bata volunteers and reaching out to approx. 25’000 needy children.

Harvard Medical School announced that they are awarding Dr. Richard Bail,
founder of Communities without Borders their Community Service Faculty Award
for his work supporting the education of AIDS orphans and vulnerable
Children for the last ten years. Dr. Bail is only one of two faculty to
receive this award this year. Dr. Bail in his characteristic humble manner
