Last month we heard some very good news from the Living Hope School headmaster, Geoffrey Kamuntande, about the library of 262 books that CWB travelers delivered last summer —–
Mr. Kamuntande wrote: “OUR OBSERVATION. Since it is our first time to have a library, we see that children are able to touch all the type of books that we have in stock.”
He also wrote: “We want to inform you that the Library has started working and the achievements recorded are as follows.
a) Many children have started developing interest in reading various kinds of books that are stocked in the library.
b) The children are now slowly beginning to do some research in the topics they have with their teachers.
c) The children love to read story books, science, English, maths and social studies.
d) Miss Joyce Banda is the one appointed to supervise the children in the Library, other teachers also participate.
e) Reading Aloud in front of pupils is doing very well, and it attracts alot of students. It has all triggered reading competition.”
Today, CWB volunteers in Massachusetts are collecting and labeling more donated books as well as appropriate book purchases in order to continue to build the collection during the coming year.
